June 12, 2008
We performed on immigration and in support of immigrant workers' rights on an invitation by DC Jobs with Justice at their I'll be There Awards event at the AFL-CIO building in DC.

ACT performed twice outside the Indian Embassy in Washington DC in support of a hunger strike by the Indian Workers Congress. The workers are fighting a tough battle against human trafficking that they are victims of. They were brought to the US under the Guest Worker Program (H2B Visa) and were treated like slaves until they revolted and started a satyagrah which they are still pursuing. ACT performances on the 17th reflected their struggle and appealed to the general public for help. One of the workers also joined us in the performance. April 12 and 13 were the days of World Bank/IMF Spring meetings. To show our solidarity with people around the world who are affected by the many harmful policies of these institutions, we performed outside the World Bank and IMF headquarters. The play addressed issues of PRIVATIZATION AND LIBERALIZATION.

January 26 was the Global Day of Action. In DC, ACT performed a new play made for this particular day, called "Stories from the Border". It concentrated on the complex issue of immigration from Latin America. The performance was part of an event organized by the DC committee of the United States Social Forum held at the Plymouth Congregational Church in DC.
